AirCARE1 Adds 5th Learjet to Their Air Ambulance Fleet

July 9, 2019 Press Release

AirCARE1 has announced the addition of a Learjet 60 to their fleet of air ambulance aircraft. This new aircraft joins a fleet of three other Learjet 35As as well as a Learjet 36A which are owned and operated by AirCARE1. The Learjet 60 will perform medical transportation flights throughout North America, South America and Central America. In addition, the newly added aircraft will be able to perform operations to Europe in the future.

The addition of the Learjet 60 provides a number of benefits which will allow AirCARE1 to better service their patients both domestically and internationally.

One of the strongest features of the Learjet 60 is its cruise performance. The Learjet 60 can climb to its cruise level of 43,000 feet in less than fourteen minutes when loaded to its maximum takeoff weight of 23,500 pounds. This high cruising altitude makes for a smoother flight and helps minimize turbulence during patient travel. Once at cruise level, the Learjet 60 can reach speeds of up to 457 knots which equates to 525 mph. It has a transcontinental range of 2,590 miles, or 2,250 nautical miles, when carrying six or seven passengers. With the increased speed and longer range, AirCARE1 is able to transport patients more quickly and with less dependency on refueling stops.

The Learjet 60 can fly further with a total flight duration of five to five and a half hours depending on flight conditions. This is a significant increase over the Learjet 35A, and modest improvement over the Learjet 36A. This additional flight time before stopping to refuel will translate to less stops for patients. Less frequent stops for patients during medical transport ultimately helps to reduce stress and anxiety levels for both patients and their loved ones. When it comes to medical transport, these reduced travel times can make a critical difference for patients with time sensitive conditions and treatment requirements. The extra flight duration will also allow AirCARE1 to fly patients nonstop from Canada to Mexico. The Learjet 60 is also capable of carrying a larger payload. This means it is possible for more than one family member to accompany their loved ones.

In terms of interior features, the Learjet 60 features a full stand up cabin which provides patients and their family members with added comfort and ease during flights. This new Learjet air ambulance is also the first aircraft in AirCARE1’s fleet with a lavatory.

AirCARE1 is an air ambulance and medical transportation service headquartered in Albuquerque, N.M. AirCARE1 also has an additional base in the Phoenix, Ariz. area. Their company vision takes a different approach to medical air transport. This approach is founded on the belief that providing the highest level of medical attention, combined with compassion and a holistic approach to care will transform the flight experience for their patients. The vision and approach taken by AirCARE1 provides an important sense of well-being for patients and their family members throughout the medical transportation process.
