AirCARE1 now offers an additional way to transport patients with infectious diseases, including COVID-19, H5N1, SARS, and even Ebola. In addition to the ISO VAC patient isolation module that AirCARE1 purchased in the summer of 2020 to safely transport COVID patients, we now transport patients utilizing a Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment Hood for respiratory droplet isolation. Both medical equipment options are FDA approved and the safest ways to transport patients while protecting crew members onboard as well as preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
How It Works:
The Amron NIV Hood “helmet-based ventilation system” is an innovative piece of equipment that encases the patients head only to keep infected airflow contained and isolated. This option provides higher mobility and comfort for the patient while being transported over a long period of time. The hood can hold pressures of up to 40 cm H2O to safely keep any airflow from reaching the outside environment. Utilizing a hood allows our medical crew to have full access to the patient, eliminating the need for a patient access port.
The hood has a two-piece design that includes a neck ring, placed over the head and onto the shoulders, and an attached hood with a clear optical window. This two-piece feature allows our medical crew to remove the hood quickly and safely from the neck ring assembly without disturbing the patient or the supply gas, if needed. The Neck Ring has a large opening to universally fit all patients and a patented neck seal attachment for a secure but easy installation by medical personnel.

We are pleased to announce the acquisition of the ISOVAC patient isolation module to transport patients with highly infectious diseases, including COVID-19. The ISOVAC unit is the only FDA approved isolation chamber to transport infectious diseases. Utilizing an approved isolation chamber allows for the safest air ambulance transport for patients while protecting against the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
AirCARE1 understands the importance of utilizing the proper equipment for COVID-19 that can protect our patients, as well as our medical and aviation crews. In addition to utilizing the sophisticated ISO VAC we have designed specific policies and procedures to enhance the safe and comfortable transports of patients with a highly infectious disease.
How It Works
This module utilizes a negative pressure system to protect the medical crew and pilots during transport. The chamber provides a built-in sealing membrane with openings for cables and lines as well as a ventilation system that allows for the comfort of the patient during transport. The medical crew can fully monitor and provide any medical care for a critically ill patient through multiple pass via openings in the system. After use, the chamber is cleaned and sanitized by a highly sophisticated disinfectant fogging system.
