Booking an Air Ambulance Transport

The first thing to do when booking an air ambulance transport is speak with one of our flight coordinators at AirCARE1 to discuss your air ambulance transport needs. They will answer any questions about the services you may need and provide you with cost details in an all-inclusive quote for a bedside-to-bedside transport.

Evaluating transport services: Our team can help determine if an air ambulance transport is right for your patient. There are a few key factors to assess such as the patient’s condition, level of medical attention required, and cost. If an air ambulance transport is not necessary, patients can utilize our medical escort services.

Reasons for an air medical transport: There are many reasons why a patient would require a long-range air medical transport. Typically, a patient has been hospitalized and needs to be transported to another facility that either offers a specialized treatment, covered by insurance, or located closer to home. An Air Ambulance transport can also support patients needing hospice or mental health care.

Costs of an Air Ambulance transport: The cost of an Air Ambulance transport can vary widely. Factors that affect the cost include the distance of the flight, level of medical care and equipment required, and the medical team onboard. AirCARE1 strives to provide high-quality services at fair prices with full transparency as we provide an all-inclusive quote with no mark-ups or hidden fees.

When a transport is confirmed with our team, we take care of every detail to give you peace of mind. Our communications team works with the hospital case manager to coordinate all patient logistics before, during and after the flight. During the transport, they also keep all parties informed of every detail of the flight including all patient activity. At AirCARE1 we strive to provide a streamlined and peaceful air ambulance experience for our patients and families.

What To Expect on The Day of Transport

On the day of transport, our AirCARE1 medical team will arrive at the patient’s bedside. After completing a full assessment, the patient is transferred to our stretcher and attended to by our medical team throughout the entire journey.

The patient is then transported to our AirCARE1 aircraft by ground ambulance, loaded onboard, and flown safely to their destination.

Many different aircraft are used for air medical transports, it can often be hard to understand which aircraft to use. If a patient needs a short transport from a local accident, or an emergent local hospital transfer, a rotary-wing (helicopter) aircraft is utilized. A fixed-wing aircraft (airplane) is used for long-distance medical transports – air ambulance providers operate many different types of airplanes for this service. Factors that play into determining which aircraft is better suited for the patients’ medical situation and transport needs include urgency, distance, comfort, and degree of medical care.

AirCARE1 utilizes a fleet of Learjet aircraft for air ambulance transport’s due to their excellent safety records, efficient performance capabilities, and comfortable interiors. Our aircraft is equipped as an airborne Intensive Care Unit with specialized medical equipment that allows our medical team to continuously monitor the patient’s condition during flight. Our compassionate team cares for our patients’ emotional and physical well-being through holistic care that provides a calming, refreshing experience that promotes healing.

Arriving At The Final Destination

Once the aircraft lands at the final destination, our medical team transports the patient to the receiving facility by ground ambulance. They will provide a comprehensive report to the new medical team at bedside to ensure a smooth transition of care.
